Spain being battered by storms, gale force winds and snow: "The Spanish Met Office (AEMET) is maintaining its red alert in A Coruña and Pontevedra because of the high winds hitting the

coastline, and a yellow alert is still active in Andalusia, Aragón, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Castilla La Mancha, Ceuta, Melilla, Madrid, the Basque Country, Asturias, La Rioja and Galicia.

Although in the city is a risk of gale force winds along the whole of the Cantabrian, Basque Country and Galician coastlines, A Coruña, Pontevedra and Lugo have been the worst hit so far. Waves of but as numerous as twelve metres have been recorded and one person has already perished out at sea, with another missing presumed dead.

In Andalusia, storms continue along the coast of Almeria as well as in inland areas like Huelva, Cadiz and Málaga, and snow is expected in the mountains of Granada. The Melilla coastline is on orange alert, and a yellow alert is active in Ceuta."
